Central Australian Community Toy Library
The Central Australian Community Toy Library Inc (CACTL) is a community based Not for Profit organisation governed by voluntary Board of Management and managed by a Director.
CACTL operates a toy and equipment lending service for families with children from birth to approximately 6 years of age. Toys are loaned for a two week period.  At the end of that period return your toys and select new toys for the next two week period.

Our aim is to provide services to the general community and to children and families who are disadvantaged in the community.  Specialised services and adapted materials are available to children with disabilities and special needs.

CACTL operates a toy and equipment lending service for children and families.  It is based on the same principle as a book lending library, toys are loaned for a two week period.  At the end of that period, return your toys and select new toys for the next two week period.

However, the Toy Library involves more than just loaning toys.  We are committed to the belief of the importance of ‘Educational Play’.  For example:
  • Jigsaws help to develop manipulative skills and extend concepts of colour, shape and size also developing concentration span.
  • Games are provided to help develop understanding of numbers and letter recognition while developing social skills.
  • Puppets and dress ups help your child’s imagination.
  • Bat and Ball games are great for coordination and physical development; they encourage fair play and improve children’s social skills.
  • A Musical section is available to increase the awareness of sound and rhythm.
  • Bikes, trikes and scooters provide excellent opportunities for children to develop gross motor skill and physical fitness.
  • Construction activities encourage cognitive development, fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination.

Community Assistance
CACTL is a non profit organization with a limited budget and appreciates any voluntary help with general maintenance and toy repairs. Your voluntary support as a Board Member is always welcome.  Our Board of Management meets monthly.  If you would like more information on joining our Board, please ask our library staff.

Community Spirit
The CACTL centre is the hub of your community and as such we have much information about the many services available to you and your children. We celebrate, within our programs, the many Territory and National community events.
Please ask any of our staff for assistance.

Staff are committed to providing a welcoming and stimulating environment for children and parents but please be aware that parents are responsible their children throughout all CACTL environs.

We are sure you and your children will enjoy your experience at the Toy Library and encourage, in the true spirit of community co-operation, any feedback you may have to make this centre the best that it can be.
